Confused on tire pressure

Had by new intrigue weighed at the FMCA in Albuquerque with the following results: LF 5150, RF 5500, LR 7800, RR 7875, LTag 4100, Rtag 4100. So, looking at Toyo tire pressure charts, and taking the highest weight on each axle, it comes out like this. Front tires 85 psi, rear tires (7875/2=3937 lbs per tire) min psi on the chart 70 psi, tag axle, same thing, min chart pressure is 70 psi. These weights are our actual traveling weight, full fuel, water, black 3/4, grey 1/2. I have never run tire pressure this low, but then my Dynasty was not a tag. It seems to me that 70 psi is awfully low.
Even 85 in the front is low. If I add 10 psi safety factor it still seems low. So for now I am ruunning 100 front, 95 rear, 85 tag. What think you all?

I have a 03 Intrigue, 40 foot, tag and had it weighed last summer by RVSEF. The weights were: LF 5375, RF 5725, LR 7675, RR 7275, LTag 4725, RTag 4350. I run 90 psi upfront, 95 psi rear, and 100 psi tag. These were the pressures also recommended by CC when I took delivery last May. It is almost the reverse of your pressures.
I discussed tire pressures at length with RVSEF and Les Schwab in JC and they agree with these pressures. With my pressures I have the following safety margins. 2100 lbs front, 5050 lbs rear, and 1925 tag.
If you were weighed by RVSEF, you will get a print out showing ratings based the pressures you told them you were running, Load Measurements, and Safety Margins.

Hi Lyle,

You will probably get alot of replys on this - here is my rule based on side wall stiffness (safety) requirements: 95 psi in all tires unless the Toyo calls for more. It's easy, simple and foolproof. There is no need to add 10 or 15 psi for safety - adding more psi may/will however affect wear.

Lyle, I have been running my 03 Allure at 85psi front and 75psi rear duals and tag for about 20,000 miles and the ride is superb. On my previous two Intrigues I ran 110 front and 100 rear, and the ride wasn't nearly as good. I know there are those on this board who think I'm nuts running as low as I am, but I believe the charts. On another matter, I am puzzled by the difference in wt. your front two tires are showing. A difference of 450# seems like alot.

As for 95 all the way around--simple yes but a harsher ride with that much pressure in the tag? Good Catch! When RVSEF went over the figures with me, he made the comment that the tags should be adjusted to carry more of the weight from the rears. It seemed to make sense to me and will probably have CC look at it this Fall.
For now, I was uncomfortable with the thought of adjusting it myself and as long as the coach is still under warranty, I'll let CC do it. It would make sense to have the tags carry another 1500 lbs or so.

For now, I guess I've got "Lazy Tags."

Just my two cents worth. I complained when we first purchased our Allure 03, so they checked a number of things including ride height. They left me a weight for all four corners and their recommended pressures, and guess what? They were all at 75 psi including the front. When I first posted that info here, many said they didn't think it was safe. However, what could I do? That was the pressure CCI put in them, could they be wrong? Good luck in your quest for the perfect ride. While our ride is not perfect, it was better than the 110 we originally had in all four and the 90's we put in our selves.

Compared to front Kitchen slide units, 98,99, 2000, which averaged 750 to 1100 lbs, its ok. That's why we had tire recalls. My Ovation has 110 lbs. front tire difference. TWI 2004 Intrgue, Ovation 11731

The 98,99,2000 models also were recalled to change configuration of the ride height valves. They were changed from two-front and one-rear to one-front and two-rear. This was to help equalize the weight in front.

Had that, done, but it was to benefit the dynamic weight problem. i.e. the weight you measure on a scale is at rest and that was no problem, but when you throw in the dynamics of acceleration of the entire chassis on that left front tire. (TILT). By moving it to the duals a much larger latitude in capability was accessed. TWI 11731, 30255 98 ALLURE
