Motosat/Datastorm/Ground Control Internet

Yahoo Message Number: 9222
We recently installed the Ground Control One-Touch mobil internet system in our

04 Allure. All of the inside hardware fits into one of our overhead cabinets. A dedicated

Windows computer/router/server is built into that system. We then installed a wireless

access point with a short ethernet cable which gave me wireless access from the One

Touch to two notebook computers (One a Mac running OS X and the other running

Windows XP) that can be used anywhere inside or outside the coach with no wires

attached. This is a very well designed and thought out system and we are very pleased

with it. Our Direct TV receiver also uses the same basic antenna with a minor attachment.

It also fits into the same overhead compartment.
I have been following the Datastorm Users forum cited in earlier posts and recommend it

highly for background and operating information.
Our unit was purchased directly from Ground Control (a major satellite ISP). The physical

installation was first class, done locally, and their tech support and follow up has been

excellent. The antenna and other outside hardware is made by MotoSat (a related

company) and is industrial grade. Hughes/Direcway provides the satellite links.

For more info go to groundcontrol.com and look at the One-Touch unit and its specs in

the mobil internet area. I'll be happly to provide any addtional details

based on my own research and experiences if interested. I've been playing around with

computers for more than 20 years and this is a slick unit. It does what they say it will do.

Ralph -

Thanks for the report. I had the opportunity to play with one this winter in FL and have pretty much decided to put one in before (or rather during) our fall trip. It will let me relocate for the winter and still work. They really have done a nice job with the one touch model... I'm hoping to stick my Dish Network right on there too.
I need to locate an installer while on the road or hook up with one of the traveling guys as nobody around me does the work.

Please keep us posted as to signal quality as you travel.
