Changing Michelin for Toyo

Doug, We will be due for new tires on our 2001 32' Allure in the next few months. What is the advantage of going to Michelins and what size Michelin replaces the 12R Toyos? I look for to yours and other input.

22R22.5 XZE Michelin. $464.30 ea mounted, trued, and balanced at Wyatt's Tire, Eugene, (541) 344-3218. I couldn't have been happier with the service. Toyo's are notorious for poor handling. With the new Michelins and an alignment from Keizer Brake & Alignment the coach handles much better. Of course, if you are in Eugene and want to buy my Toyos, 3000 miles, let me know. The rear 4 will be available also when I have them replaced this fall. They have 6000 miles.

What do you mean by saying "Toyos are notorious for poor handling"? Is it your opinion that Toyos are bad or is it the opinion of most of the CC owners that the Toyos are bad? The reason I ask this, is that I will might need to switch to Michelins too if it the general consensus that Toyos are poor handling tires. To date, I have had no problems whatsoever with my Toyos and I have 13,000 miles on them. Having said that, I have never driven a motorhome with Michelin tires on it.

Our Toyos are doing fine at 33,000 on our 2001 Intrigue. No handling problems at all IF one weighs the coach and adjusted the tire pressures accordingly. We couldn't believe the difference in handling when we did that. We'll stick with Toyos when we replace ours. So far they are wearing great with 33000 miles on them in 3 years.

Most Prevost and Signature Monocos come with Michelins so if they are good enough for Prevosts they are good enough for me. Les Swab gets a great price on toyos so we still get toyos
