Dash Radio/CD Player Help

Yahoo Message Number: 9756
Hi, I have a radio/CD control head in the dash, It seems that EVERYTHING [TV, CD,in dash radio, etc]audio goes through the Bose system. The Bose is AC of course.

So my question is--- how do I drive down the radio, listen to the in dash radio/CD player without running the Gen or inverter? If I run the inverter aren't my house batteries going to run down in time? Is there a way to operate the radio/CD on the coach batteries.
I don't know if this system has speakers other than the Bose or not.
This wasn't covered in the PDI or the manual.
What am I missing here?
Thanks, Larry

Larry,

If the Bose is AC only then you will need to run the inverter. Running the generator would be gross overkill in terms of the power required.
So long as your house battery charging system is operating properly, you should have no problems running the inverter, as the batteries are all being charged from the engines' alternator. I have done this from day one of owning my coach and have had no problems with doing it. I do not have a Bose system, but I do run an AC powered HEPA air cleaner continuously to alleviate allergy symptoms.
BTW does your coach have any inverter controls or house battery voltage monitoring other than an "OFF/ON" inverter switch and Red Green and Yellow voltage LEDs?

Dave, thanks for the info, just thought there might be a way to run the radio from the alternator. I agree that the Gen would be over kill, but when we first picked up the coach, the Gen had very little time on it so we ran it at 1/2 load to give it a workout and to make sure it was in good working order. I only discovered the radio function when I took the coach to have some work done about 50 miles away and I wasn't running the Gen, My coach has the 'Freedom 25' inverter/charger and the 'Link 2000' controller/monitor.
Thanks again, Larry
