Coolant reservoir

Yahoo Message Number: 9807
On the last day of the Tennessee CCI rally I went to check the engine oil level and found the main coolant tank had shifted down on the dip stick. Closer examination revealed that SIX of the EIGHT screws holding the tank had pulled out and were gone. It was only supported by two screws and was partially supported by a steel cross member.
What a disaster if I had left in that condition and the tank had fallen down to the road and bounced into my toad. The CC techs were still there and Doug Rutherford took a personal interest in getting repairs made. They moved the tank over( it took three men to manhandle it full of coolant)and reattached it with longer screws.
The comment was made that the screws holding this heavy tank were too short----obviously this was true. My only reason for chronicalling this problem is to push everyone to look at your rig and make sure you don't have a loose tank which is held by screws into plywood. You could have a disaster waiting to happen.
