generator-no power

Yahoo Message Number: 10078
While camping in the mountains at 8200' we had some cool mornings when the Powertech genset didn't start on the first try. It did start on the 2nd try and ran fine but wouldn't produce any power. Tried shutting down and restarting to no avail. After a couple of hrs I tried 1 last time and it worked. This happened 3 different days. It is apparent that if it does'nt start the first time it is not going to work for awhile.

What is happening and how do I deal whith it?

I did check the breaker switches and they were both on. I then checked the AC voltage to the breakers and only had 6 volts AC. I checked them again when it was working and had 125v AC on both breakers.

Harvey,

Have you checked the two fuses located on the generator circuit breaker box? Also, if it has a lot of run time on it, the generator brushes may be worn out.

I have a comment as to "no power"

Mine would run fine but when a load was put on such as ac kicking in it would falter and sometimes stall. My problem was a faulty electric fuel pump. Went to NAPA auto parts and replaced it for 12.00 dollars.
