Route Information Request

We are planning to travel along Arizona Hwy 191 begining at I-10, crossing I-40, and heading up to Utah with a stop at Goulding in Utah. Has anyone travelled this route towing a toad? Some areas of 191 look mighty twisty and turny, just wondering if it is OK for a 40 foot coach.
Also, there did not seem to be much in the way of RV Parks along this route. Any information regarding places to stop along route 191 and especially near Canyon De Chelly would be most welcome.

I would recommend, unless Page and Lake Powell are a definite 'must-see', that you continue across I-10 to US95 and take US 95 north up through to I-15? Just came that route ourselves ~ some nice Arizona State Parks along that route between Parker and Lake Havasu which offer nice scenery and camping right along the Colorado River. Be sure and top off your tank(s), though, before leaving AZ, as prices escalate $.10 to $.15 while travelling across Nevada. Of course that takes you west of the Sedona and Flagstaff areas, also 'nice-to'see' places, if interested. Laughlin/Bullhead City may be points of interest, just fuel and purchase on AZ side, again - there's a 2/3 year old Super Wal-Mart on the south end of Bullhead City. Boondocking is available @ multiple casinos there in Laughlin, as well as Las Vegas/Henderson. St. George UT on I-15 offers some interests (red rock amphitheater with Guys & Dolls/West Side Story on alternating nights - see www.tuachan.com) in the summer months. Zion, Bryce and even north rim of Grand Canyon all nice to visit @ this time of year and Shakespearean Festival underway all summer in Cedar City, which for 45 miles, is usually some 10-15 degrees cooler than St. George, due to elevation. IF you should decide on Sedona and Flagstaff areas, of course you'll want to see the south Rim, too.

We have traveled this route many times. We do not recommend 191 from I-10 to Eager. This is steep and many hairpin turns. Recommend you go a bit east to 180 in NM and take that up to Eager. From there on the road is ok. It is a bit rough in spots but very travelable.
Gouldings is a really great trading post and Canyon de Chelly is a must stop and tour the canyons. Stops along the way---Canyon de Chelly has a very passable National Park to stay in but a bit tight on many sites for a 40 footer. Lyman Lake has a nice campground between Eager and St. Johns. Last year the state said they may close it due to budget problems but we don't know if that has happened. If not it is a good stop. Check into the petroglyphs at Lyman Lake.
From Canyon de Chelly up into Utah is a great trip but nowhere to camp. Moab is a favorite of ours. Stay long and tour much. By the way there is a great rock shop in St. Johns. It is right on the road so you will see it if you are interested. The White Mountains of Arizona offer many good campgrounds and a nice casino and RV park at Honda (sp?). You are also in the Mounment Valley area so if you haven't been there get an Indian guide and do it up right. Nice campground at Mounment Valley. Hope this helps.
