white powder - folllowup from HWH

Yahoo Message Number: 10146
Just got off the phone with a tech from HWH. He can not locate a part number for a replacement cartridge or recall anyone ever asking for one (and they still install the same Parker dryer). He has heard of the white powder accumulating on the bowl and has sold people replacement glass bowls. I'm going to pull mine and simply clean it and check it out.

FWIW, several months ago ... the one-way valve on the "out" side of that air dryer's mount failed, causing air to audibly leak out of the fitting on the bottom of that bowl while we were driving. Fortunately the compressor easily keeps up with the leakage. To summarize ... the problem was diagnosed over the phone by HWH who overnighted a new valve to me. Since our coach is a '98, we had to pay for the valve and shipping costs, but we received great service from HWH.

I've got the same situation, but Iam pretty sure that my compressor is dead too. I am just going to replace both with something else.
Haven't decided exactly what yet. Need to do more research.

Page 29 of the Spring 04 CCI Destinations Magazine has a section on the Air System Filter/Dryer which they recommend changing every two years or 50,000 miles. An exploding desccicant cartridge creates the "white powder". They also talk about replacing or servicing the purge valve. Article written by Brian Keys. Might be worth a call to CC for explanations and parts.

Dean,

Alright....you've got my attention big time. I crawled under my '95 Intrigue and found the part number is Bendix E2094T. Couldn't find anything on the internet re: that P/N. But, it looks like what I have is a Bendix Model AD-9. To those of you in the know....does that sound correct?

Yes, Bendix AD-9 is the correct number for the Brake system dryer.
You should have no trouble finding a kit for that.

yes that is right I just changed mine out on my 95 Intrigue .
you have to go to the bendix site and put in the part number to find out if it is an ad- 9 but most unit are
simple change out but you need to clean the check valve assembly that goes into the dryer mine was full of dirt and crap

Dean,

We do all this at 30,000 miles and have never seen any white powder. I have run into people that have never read their manual and have never changed this filter or cleaned the valve. You can buy the filter from CCI and pick it up at a rally to save shipping. Just give them enough notice and they will bring anything on the truck and you save freight and sales tax.

Thanks Brian,

Did you just remove the check valve, clean it, then reinstall it or did you get an End Cover Check Valve Assembly Replacement kit? Also, when you removed the desiccant cartridge, were you able to remove it by hand or did you use something like a filter wrench?

Thanks,
