20,000 lb axle weight

Are these weight restrictions not for commercial vehicles? I don't use my coach as a commercial vehicle so why shouild regulations concerning commercial vehicles affect me? If I must abide by some commercial regulations would I be required to abide by all of these regulations? Such annual mechanical inspections by DOT certified personel, stopping at DOTcheck points, maintain a CDL, bi-annual physical exams, maintain a drivers log of hours of service, and on, and on? I think we may be giving this matter too much concern, we are driving "Recreational" vehicles not commercial vehicles. Our concern should be SAFETY! Safety for not just ourselves, but of all highway users. Does a 23,000 lb axle include not just increased carrying capacity, but increased stopping capability also? If so does this not give us an increased safety level?
