window screens

I've been admiring the plastic mesh windshield screens that attach to the outside of the coach. Can someone with these screens answer some questions? Are they strictly sun screens or do they also provide privacy during the day and at night? Can you totally replace the clumsy pleated drapes with these? Has anyone had these installed by some outfit in the Junction City area that they can recommend? Thanks.

Outside sun screens, (1) are a pain to install/remove; (2) are dust and bird crap collectors; and, (3) don't provide privacy at night if you have the TV or lights turned on. To prevent the dust problem, some prefer inside mounted screens (friends have interior screens that are suction cap mounted), although they're not as effective at reducing heat gain as outside screens. They're not a replacement for the pleated drapes (darn!) 'cause of the privacy issue. We bought our Intrigue used and it came with exterior screens. To protect the wiper blades from the sun, by the way, I use pre-slit pipe insulation, cut to size. Some screen makers offer optional windshield wiper covers. Pipe insulation is much cheaper .

I completely agree with Dick's opinion of sun screens. I've had them for three coaches and only us them if seting up for several days stay in one place. They're a royal pain the ------.
THe only reason I keep getting them is to please the spouse.
