Toad Braking Systems

We are preparing to tow our '04 Dodge Ram 3500. I checked with M&G but it won't work, not enough room for it under the hood. I was looking at Roadmaster's Brakemaster but my mechanic says he has seen several toads with warped rotors, so he recommended a Brakebuddy or an Apollo. I called PPL today ( they have the best prices I have found so far) to buy one of them but the parts manager said he thought the US Gear Unified Tow Brake was better. Now he said this even though we are going to install it ourselves. I could understand him recommending it if they were getting the job because he said that it takes their service about 7 hours to install.
Anyway I looked back at previous post for the last 1 1/2 years and found some chatter on brake systems but no clear conclusions. What do you all use and how good or bad. Please don't give me a hard time about our choice of tow vehicle. I know its big and heavy. We need it to pull the boat, it is what we have and we are NOT buying anything else.

I just had the M&G installed and really like it. I used Brake Buddy for 4 years and had no problems with it--just decided to try the different type system. My Brake Buddy is for sale if interested. You mention PPL--does that mean you are in Houston?

I tow a 99 Chev Tahoe and use the US Gear system. I looked at allthe others and from a design point I felt it was the best available at the time. I installed the system myself. The systems uses a two axis accelerometer with an adjustable gain control and override. Once set you do not have to worry about it and it provides the same vaccum boost assited power braking to the towed vehicle as if you were driving it.
I have been using this system for over 12,000 towed miles now and am still very pleased.

Go to http://www.viprv.com to see a chart that compares quite a few braking systems. Every one is a compromise one way or the other.
