Economy Mode and Water Tank

I would like to get input on two questions:

1. Has anyone experienced a siphoning action on the fresh water tank after filling? The two times that I have filled my tank all the way up until it overflows from the vent, it has siphoned out over half of the water that I just loaded? I have a 2005 Inspire daVinci.

2. What has been anyone's experince using the economy setting on the
transmission? Does it get better milage in that mode? Also, can you engage this mode while in operation, like going into overdrive?

Regarding the syphoning action, I have experienced it on all three of the CC's I have owned, but never to the extent you have. Mine always quits after a bit and the gauge reflects full.
Regarding the economy setting on the transmission all this does is change the rpm's at which the tranny shifts. I've never experienced any fuel savings with it and I had an Allison rep tell me to just leave it alone.

I don't have answer for part one, but as to part two; the economy button causes the transmission to go into 5th gear 200 rpm sooner (lower number) and into sixth gear sooner(lower number). So if you are driving around town on the flats it will get to sixth faster and shift down later. In the hills you'll have to step on the throttle further in order to get a shift and that's when you'll get that nice black plume of smoke everyone loves. Keep the engine wound up and you'll have more precise shifts and no smoke. While we were driving from Kalispell to St. Mary and from Denver thru South Park to Durango, belching smoke or slow shifts can really rile the natives. TWI Intrigue 11731, 2004 (Cummins)

No experience with siphoning.....
As to Econo mode on the transmission.... I've been told and read the same thing.... Don't bother. The engine runs at it best when the torque is in the range it is designed to operate at. When you turn on the econo mode you tell the tranny not to shift when the load would normally require it.

I usually always run in Econo mode. It seams to me that I get better mileage (per the silverleaf) as the engine does less searching (down/up/down/up) for the right gear.

Love the silverleaf as I always know what gear the tranny is actually operating in (and other warm feeling about the power plant).

Also find I can maintain the best speed on a steep hill like the Grapevine (CA) by manually downshifting to rev to approx 2000 RPM for the climb.

I use the Economy Mode generally when I'm just following trucks and don't feel like dealing with passing them. It lets the cruise back off on gentle grades so I slow down a bit just as the trucks do. I also find it handy on hilly secondary roads as it keeps the cruise control from accelerating as I crest a hill as it tries to get back up to the set speed. I hate picking up speed as I crest a hill on a narrow road where I don't know what's on the other side.
