Mexican LIABILITY Insurance

I know some of you go into Mexico. (Ree for one). I'm getting some wild prices for Liability Only Insurance for the month of February to Kino Bay. Any suggestions on who to buy from to get resonable rates with resonable Coverage?? What kind of prices are you paying?? My RVAA insurance covers my collision and comprehensive in Mexico.. SO the issue is Liabilty only..

Lee: The coach value should have nothing to do with Liability coverage. Last year I bought Liability only for "Driver Only". The coverage was for me while driving my coach or toad. It was $85.00 for six months. I purchased it in Why, a little town North of the border in Arizona. Several others who went with us bought the same thing. Fortunately nobody had to use it. (heaven forbid, huh)

Check out Liability only, Driver only. Good luck.

I buy my insurance through Vagabundos del Mar http://vagabundosdelmar.com/ It is an RV/Boating Club that concentrates it's services for Americans in Mexico. There is a $35 annual dues but with that you get a access to easy insurance. When I was buying the first time I called the Insurance company that Vags use and asked if it was cheaper through he club and said yes.
Join the club before buying the insurance.
To my knowledge, RVAA and Progressive are the only companies that cover RV's in Mexico. At least in some states, Progressive does not cover full-timers.
My motor home is insured with RVAA, so comp & collision is covered there.
But, C & C on the toad is required. The premium is based on the value you place on the vehicle. Liability is inexpensive. I just sent in my renewal papers, but don't remember what it costs---I think either $45 or $65 per year. That covers any vehicle that you drive, coach, tow car, etc. Even covers me in the dessert buggy, if I am on recognized roads. From what I understand, if you are going to be there for any length of time, it is less expensive to buy an annual policy. My coverage for everything costs less that $400/year, If memory serves me correctly.
A very important coverage that you should get is Legal Assistance. I think it is $24/year. In the event of an accident you will be provided with an English speaking attorney to help with the mess.
Just be sure you have adequate coverage. An accident in Mexico is a federal offence. If you cannot show proof of insurance, they lock you up and as questions later and if you don't have coverage---OHHHH BAAAAADDDDD!!!!!
Some people, in an effort to save $$$$, will get a day policy for the day they are driving down and the day they are driving back. I don't recommend that. I don't know anybody that has had the car or coach vandalized, but it could happen and you would not be covered. Two years ago, a coach burned to the ground. I did not know the person, but if there was no coverage she lost it all. Of course, she had driven off road for a better view of the mountains! I saw the coach and location. Real stupid thing for her to do.
With RVAA it would have been covered, I suppose.

If I can help in anyway, please let me know. And, when I get back, I would love to have company. I have hookups for 2 rigs on my property, and my good friend across the street has hook ups. Can find more if necessary.
I have been ready to go home for a very long time. Now looks like it may mid-late January. Not a happy camper!!!

We too have RVAA/Progressive that covers Collision and Comprehensive in Mexico. We are thinking of using Lewis & Lewis Insurance of Beverly Hills for our Liability. Have had good reports from others using them.

If you are taking a tow car, don't forget the comp & collision on it. I don't know of any US company that provides coverage in Mexico. Most will allow 20 miles or so across the border.
