RV parks in New Orleans area

Yahoo Message Number: 13925
Does anyone have any suggestions on a good RV park to stay at in the New Orleans area? We want to visit relatives in the area and they don't have a clue as to what to look for in checking them out for us. It will not be during Mardi Gras. any help will be appreciated.
Thanx

P.S. Herb, we completely agree with Dick and Candice. You do one hell of a job. Many thanks.

Flynns,

I stayed at the New Orleans KOA-West which is out by the airport.
It is a small, but nice park. I would rate the park an 8 or 9 out of 10. We had a back in site with a concrete pad and large patio area.
Plenty of room for any number of slides. Nice pool, restrooms & laundry. There is nicely mowed grass. Staff was helpful & friendly.
There is a shuttle to French Quarter or taxi service available.
Reservations are a must!

Hope this helps......
Steve

We also stayed at the New Orleans KOA-West in 2003. It is a very nice park, with a good location and a great staff.....easily an 8 or 9.

There is a great state park just north of New Orleans right next to Lake Pontchitrain causeway (toll in one direction only)...many folks visiting NO stay there. Large sites with 50 amp hookups. It might be crowded this time of the year as snowbirds love the La. state parks.
The state has about the best camping facilities in their state parks, of any state, and the price is right....they also honor Golden Age Passports. Name of that particular park is Fontainebleau State Park, as you enter La you can pick up one of their state park directories which will give you all the info.

John and Merilee,

I can not remember the name of the park, but there is one on the west side of the Mississippi River on US 90. It seems to be a fairly new park. Have not stayed there yet but will check it out in March '05.
Check out one of the newer Campground directories. If I can find the web address I will post it.

We have stayed at the other mentioned parks years ago, but they are not in the best part of town, but they were the nearest to the French Quarter.

Wishing you the best for the New Year,

Egon
