Recall 04V-463 (stove gas line replacement)

This is a message I sent to Doug Beaudry at CC. We received a recall notice to have a rubber gas line conneting the stove to the LP gas system replace with a copper one to avoid the possibility of the rubber hose being melted and starting a LP gas fire when using the stove. The recall required the lined to be replaced by a service tech and I requested they send me the replacement kit and I would do it myself and avoid the hassel of going into a repair shop for a 1 hour job and waiting 1/2 a day to get it done. We're full timers and don't like to to do that if we can avoid it.
Message follows:

Feed back from installation of the recall 04V-463 (stove gas line replacement) on our 2004 Allure coach # 31028. Mike Scott sent me a kit to do the recall.
1. The kit contained copper tubing and brass fittings to put in a new copper gas line vs.. the rubber line along with sealant materials.
2. The adapter to connect to the stove fitting was incorrect. It was a step up 3/8 to 1/2 adapter and a 1/4 to 1/2 adapter was required.
3. I went to Home Depot to find the adapter necessary and found a 24 inch flexible stainless steel gas line used to connect up to home hot water heaters. This little "kit" had all the adapters necessary to make the change from the rubber hose to the metal one. It cost about $9.00.
4. The job took about 15 minutes with that kit and did not require cutting new holes, removing the stove top, or cutting the green and red wires. Just had to remove the rubber hose and install the flexible metal hose. Bending the copper pipe to snake through the opening and then to the left and then down would have been a real bear of a job.
5. Also, I bought some pipe thread compound to insure the threads
sealed properly as well as gas detector liquid to check for leaks.

Thought you'd like to know about this as it is something that many RVers could do themselves and it would sure save them a lot of hassle as well as save CC some money in labor fees they would have to pay to repair businesses.

Thanks for the info, whoever you are, my Coach is close to yours so I will do the Depot deal myself like you did. Or, I could make an appointment in Florida at Lazydays for April (their booked until then) and spend a day, week or so waiting for a 15 minute job to get finished and then spend another few days getting it done again.

From whence cometh thou recall? I keep hearing of recalls but so far I have only had two differenct recalls; one for the Norcold and one for the steering gear box.
