Towing RX 300

Mary: Lexus is a great vehicle to tow. Besides being a wonderful car with lots of manners, it's not heavy like some popular cars.
When they came out with the new RX300, Lexus tech's were telling the RV folks that the transmission was alright to tow in neutral. Once we got hold of them we proved them wrong. Too much heat buildup without proper lubrication caused damage to the 2wd and 4wd models alike.
I suppose it would be alright if you only towed them slowly, say 55 mph or less. Who know. Who drives that slow?
Now that a pump is available through Remco www.remco.com you can safely tow the with the pump working.
The base plate is the equipment made specifically for your car. No holes to drill, just bolt it onto the front frame section under the car. It has U-bolts that attach it. No holes to drill.
The brand I have is a Roadmaster. There are several others available. You have to also buy a Roadmaster tow bar assembly that attaches in the hitch receiver on the motor home and hooks onto the base plate with steel pins.
Brakes are suggested in all tow cars. An entire subject by itself. Lots of info available on different brake systems.

Hope this helps.
