Has anyone priced a 2000 IFS Intrigue recently? Wondering how my investment is doing? Am I underwater? GGGG

Dave, Dave, Dave: If they are any among us who purchased these things and has them in the "investment" column of our portfolio, we should reconsider. I'd answer this way: How deep is the ocean? (just kidding, of course)
After spending a good part of my working life in the car business, I can assure you that the value of your coach is not increasing.

We agree, our coaches are only for fun (and to help stimulate the economy)... So the best advise would be to ignore the value and simply enjoy...

I fully expect our new Affinity to appreciate every bit as much at the Motorola stock I bought awhile back.

Ok ... I don't want to talk about it anymore.

David,

They seem to be sinking faster than a sinking rock! Just saw one advertised on rvsearch.com for 129k, marked down from his original asking price of 150k....owner is definitely motivated! That appears to be below low retail price found on NADA site.

Yes and it's only the beginning of the slide. The very high line luxury coaches are the only ones holding any kind of value and the normal depreciation is so bad that it is scary at least if you are just a regular person. The good part is that the people with that kind of resources don't really care. I'm in the RV business as an independent broker so I watch this stuff every day.

We bought some of that Motorola stock, too, unfortunately. We're still holding it, hoping it will take off some day ...

A motorhome is different from a stock, of course, for it is a depreciating asset; it is an investment only in the sense of enhancing our quality of life. Nonetheless, it was a surprise to us to discover that motorhomes depreciate at nearly identical rates, in the view of the NADA, regardless of make, model, or even type of engine. This discovery came out of an expensive analysis of motorhome evaluation posted on the Open Roads Forum as part of our research into buying a used Intrigue. For those who are interested, the link is,

Now, having bought our coach, we're waiting for that Motorola stock to take off so we can pay for it! :>)

There are a lot of things in life that don't increase in value, take the IBM 236 computer that we purchased in the 80s for $5000 and threw away 5 years later because it was worthless. At least we can get something back for our CC.

I look at it as what it costs for a lifestyle change. What we get in enjoyment and the adventure of it is our return on our investment. So far we are ahead.

David & Karen -

Beaudry has a 2000 Intrigue (will check on the IFS) for sale here at the SWCC rally. Have not heard the price yet. Will let you know when I find out. Some 2005's are here also just in case you want to run down and take your pick!!

Where is the SWCC ralley in Gold Canyon? We're currently at Gold Canyon RV and didn't know anything about it. New owners, not members of any local.

Hi Kathy, thanks but no thanks!

Right now I am thinking in terms of a used 2003 or 2004 Intrigue or Magna with three slides and just trying to get a feel for the potential retail on our existing 2000.

For a lot less money we could upgrade the interior of our existing coach but I haven't found out how to change it to three slides. GGG Changing coaches just to get one extra bedroom slide doesn't seem to make much sense to me although I would like the turning circle of a tag axle unit.

Maybe it is just a dream but I happen to believe it is good to have dreams and imagination and many times if you work hard the dreams can become reality.

 Enjoy the rally, David
