45' 3 slide or 42' 2 slide ?

Yahoo Message Number: 16478
I am looking at both and am wondering about the pros and cons of ea.
Towing and access to parks, maneuverability, livability ect. Any advice or comments are appreciated.

Thanks, Cary

Hello Cary,

I own a 2004 42 foot Intrigue with three slides. I just completed an 8 week, 8000 mile trip from Massachusetts through Utah & Death Valley to within 30 miles of the Pacific Ocean near Los Angeles -- before spending a majority of our time in Arizona. During my travels, I met a lot of other Country Coach owners

Cary,

We have a 3 slide, 40 foot 05 Magna and we love the fact that we can park it almost anywhere except some national parks. Two of our slides are in the bedroom and one slide is up front. We did this because we wanted a queen size sofa bed with an air mattress up front. On the 40 and 42 foot 4 slide you get a small sofa and it is the jack knife type, there have been times when one of us is sick and we use the second bed.. My wife wanted a large window up front and that will not work with our sofa, so we designed and ordered our coach with 3 slides. With the 3 slides we got more storage, 3 more cabinets, large storage area under sink, a large sofa with queen size sofa bed, more outside storage and more counter space, plus a nicer driving arrangement. We only lost 15 inches of floor space and the ability to pass each other while the frig is open. The second slide in the bedroom gave us the washer in the rear of the coach for better weight distribution.
In August we were the only 40 foot,3 slide coach CCI had made but at the Class Reunion they sold several more after people toured our coach. Eliminating the 4th slide also gives us the ability to stop at night without opening the front slide or the bed slide. It also makes the coach look better when parked, makes the storage eaiser to use and eliminates hitting your head on the patio slide. We are not full timer so having a larger living area is not important, we also have a 4500 sf motorcoach house at Lake Ashton.

Thanks for your inputs. I am looking at used MH's so my choices will be 2 or 3 sides. I would pefer a 3 slide with 2 in the bedroom but I don't think that I will find a used CC with one. The concern going to a 45' is primarily towing...I think the extra 3' will restrict what I can tow. Also the incressed weight of a 45' with a 3 slide even with a c15, towing 7-8k will be taxed. Anyone here have a 45' that tows a heavy trailer?

Thanks, Cary
