Internet Connection While Traveling

Yahoo Message Number: 16667
Last year I purchased an hp IPAQ 6315 to use as a phone and PDA and since then have learned some wonderful things about this device. I have internet connections virtually 24/7 while stationary or while in motion. I thought I would share a few points:

1. The device itself can access the internet and it can pull in emails just like the BlackBerry. Like a lot of the new PDA/Phones with WiFi it is capable of high speed internet through WiFi and if WiFi is not available it accesses the net through GPRS so long as you have a phone signal (in motion or not).

2. Perhaps more important and not advertised. The device is a
superb Bluetooth modem. I simply set up my laptop to use the IPAQ 6315 as a modem and it works great. I don't know why but it works much better for me than my old phone used as a modem. I have not experienced dropped calls except a couple of times in the Blueridge mountains.

It would probably not be good for business use as it is dial-up speed but while it is not cable modem speed it isn't all that slow.

The cost, imo, is reasonable. I pay $39.00/month for the phone with unlimited nights and weekends and 1,000 anytime with free long distance and no roaming charges. I know this is not really anything special. The real advantage is that once you have the phone service you can get internet access for $15.00 month. This becomes a real deal when using the 6315 as a modem.

You have unlimited access using it as a modem and you don't even need a host. TMobile provides their own. So I get virtually unlimited phone service and absolutely unlimited internet access at a very reasonable price.

I thought others might be interested.
