Cruise up mountain or foot up mountain

Maybe I can get the last word on this round of HOW TO DRIVE UP HILL.
Many truck engines are rated for horse power with cruise control engaged. Without cruise control engaged these engines lose 50 to 75 horsepower. It would seem the engine manufacturer wants cruise control to be used in all high load conditions.

Eric,

I must admit that I have never used cruise control on big mountains and probably will not in the future. But last week I sent an E mail to Doug Rutterford at CCI asking this question and his answer was "do it" . He said he saw nothing wrong with using cruise up a mountain, the computer should be able to handle what needs to be done. Maybe I'll try it some time.
