Low water pressure

In the past two months, water pressure in our 04 Intrigue has reached the point that we cannot shower or wash a dish without running the pump while connected to city water. It only trickles out of all faucets (screens are all clean). Trying to flush the black tank is difficult and takes over an hour to get the tank level to 1/4.
We have been staying in parks with 30 to 35 psi but do not recall having pressure problems this bad before. There is no where near 35 psi coming out of any faucet in the coach. We have changed the water filter and replaced the Watts pressure regulator but no change. The screen in the fill valve is not clogged. Any ideas?

If you are having a problem with your fresh water pressure and the black tank flush valve at the same time then I wouldn't think the problem is with your coach. Those are different systems on my coach.

Sounds like something is wrong with your hose or if you are using one of those pressure valves that you attach to your hose it could be bad. Just a thought.

BTW, I use different hoses for fresh water and black tank flush.

Dick, I know you have probably done this but have you checked the pressure right at the outside of your city water connection? That would eliminate the hose from the problem. If your system is similar to mine there isnt' much between the junction of the water pump and the city water. Ours has the regulator and about two feet of tubing between the city water connection and the pump junction.
If you have pressure with the pump and not the city connection it has to be in that small section. We also have a pressure guage on the tank for our toilet (under our linen closet) that I have used to determine my actual pressure in the coach. I've seen it as low as 30PSI when that is all the city pressure I have.

One more thing, at one of the parks we stay at the pressure shows 38PSI with all the faucets turned off, if I turn on any faucet in the coach the pressure drops to 25PSI and almost a trickle. We run the pump at that park almost all the time and only use the city connection to refill the fresh tank.

Just a thought...do you use an external water pressure regulator, one that attaches to the city water connection? I had one of those go bad years ago on another m/h.

I think this is what we have here. It just seems strange to have had about 6 RV parks in a row with pressure in the 30 psi range. The pressure measured at the city connection is 31 psi. The confusing part is it will shoot 25 feet out of the hose but will only trickle out of all the faucets. I wonder if there are so many turns in plumbing lines that the pressure at the hose simply cannot get to the faucets?

I think the issue is the regulator and the water filter. I debated with myself at our "home" park to remove the element from the filter while we are there. The filter element says it is good to 20PSI but the 2.5GPM is at a higher pressure. I suspect that when the pressure gets too low the filter doesn't allow much flow. I also know from experience that the kitchen faucet by Price-Pfister is terrible when it has no water pressure. I put the identical faucet in our house about 8 years ago and would have replaced it but we sold the house. It clogs up really easily. I'll probably replace ours with a Delta or a Moen soon. I suspect the other faucets being designed for household use, require more pressure than you are getting to get good flow.

Something you might want to consider is to purchase a small water softner (I bought mine at Camping World). It is much better that dealing with the hard water and the mineral deposits in all of the faucets. I have found that it is very important for the faucets, pipes and shower head to use soft water. I have not had problems with the water pressure since I took the restrictor out that was installed by CC during the mfg. Hope this helps, Dale Affinity 05 #6370
