Inspire air conditioners

Does your Inspire have enough AC?

During afternoon peak heat, we have been forced to run dash AC along with roof ACs while driving with only 38 % humidity. While parked with slides all in, ACs run past dark without making 71 degrees.
While parked with slides extended, coach can not maintain less than 77 degrees with reflective foam insulation covering all of front glass.

Roof units are 15 K heat pumps.

We wonder if a third roof unit is needed.

We have not had that problem with our '05 Inspire. Drove last weekend in the high nineties and low humidity and the two AC were able to keep 72-74.
In fact I kept the dash air off.

We've determined that the sun's direction has a lot to do with it.
If the sun is shining on the front glass and we don't have the exterior sunscreen on, the front AC will run almost constantly to keep the temp at 77 degrees. With the sun off of the front glass or with the external sunscreen attached, we can keep the temp pretty cool.

BTW, our experience with the sunroom on our house showed us that no internal sunscreen will prevent heat like an external screen. No matter what you use, there will be air between the screen and the window and that air will get hot.

When you're trying to keep out the sun, don't overlook the skylight over the shower. We cut out a piece of cardboard the right size to wedge in the opening and attached foil to the side facing up. It really helps and we leave it in until it cools off in the Fall...or whenever.

Have you made sure your a/c filters are clean? They need clean frequently during heavy use. Makes a big difference.

Three ACs won't help because you can only run 2 at a time on 50 amps. We once spent some time in Ft. Myers, fl. at 105 degrees, 2 ACs could hardly keep the coach at 78. But that felt good when the temp was 105 outside.

We run three AC's on 50 amp all the time. Our AC's pull about 15 amps each on start and more like 12 when running. A campground 50A circuit is 50A on each leg so we don't usually exceed the 50A circuit with all three AC's running at once. We did have one campground where we couldn't run two AC's on their 30A even though my calculations said we were within the 30A. The breaker on the hookup post was old so I suspect it couldn't handle the full load.

I guess using 3 airs depends on what you want to run in the coach on 50 amps. On the all electric Magna, if we run the frig, 10 gallon hwh, electric range, 2 inverters, tv etc, two airs has to be it. Never had a problem using 2 airs in most of florida, but then we are only 40 feet with 3 slides.

Bill, I suspect the difference is that we are not all electric. We don't pull as much juice for the other stuff. We do turn off one air when running the washer/dryer.
