A review of what we carry in our storage bays shows many items that could be carried in a hot storage bay: ladder, dog crate, tools, BBQ grille, etc.
Although it should've been done at the factory, fabrication and installation of an muffler heat shield may be appropriate. I know that Flowmaster sells them for their own applications.
