Clock internal to the Xantrex RC7GS Control Panel

I have monitored many, many bulletin boards for six years and have never seen this discussed. The clock internal to my RC7GS Control Panel loses approximately 5 minutes each twenty-four hours. That means that if one were to use this Control Panel (instead of the Silverleaf) to handle AutoGenStart functions, the "Quiet Hours" might be off by a considerable amount of time. The result is that you have to reset the clock each time you wanted to activate the AutoGenStart function.

I emailed Xantrex about this and about two days later a representative called me on the telephone. The gist of our conversation was that this was a problem well known to Xantrex, and it had been a problem for a LONG time. The representative said that there was no fix for this problem, and his tone of voice led me to believe that there would never be a fix forthcoming.

If this problem is universally true of all RC7GS's I can't believe there hasn't been discussion of it somewhere.

I've noticed this RC7GS intrenal clock inaccuracy too. Not sure if ours loses 5 minutes a day though. I'll reset it and watch for a few days.

Being fulltimers, we never found the AutoGenStart feature too useful - we're never away from the coach very long. And I always had to fiddle with the settings when changing time zones or moving between locations with different "quiet hours." I finally disabled the feature when we installed solar panels. Haven't even tried to use it for the last couple years.

Hard to believe there's such an inaccurate clock in this day and age, isn't it.

I've been watching the clock on the RC7GS for the past 36 hours and it has lost 1 minute and 13 seconds. I used my "atomic" weather station clock as a reference.

I exaggerated (unintentionally since I was working from a faulty memory) in my original posting. I, too, have been keeping track of the time loss over the past 48 hours. My clock lost 4 minutes in 48 hours, not the 5 minutes in 24 hours that I previously claimed.
Notwithstanding that fact, it is incredulous to me that an accurate clock cannot be made a part of this control panel.

If you assume that you only use the "quiet hours" setting once in a great while, it means that over a 30 or 60 day period, the time loss would be very significant. Of course, if you use the Silverleaf, the fault is moot, but there are hundreds of motorhomes out there that have the RC7GS but not the Silverleaf. Personally I think the whole RC7 panel, with or with the "GS" feature is a poor monitor and control panel anyway. In my previous CCs I had always added, as an aftermarket item, the Link 2000 control panel which is far more accurate and useful.

My RC7/GS clock lost 16 minutes in the past 250 hours (~1.5 min/day).
