Help with bedroom engine hatch

We just had some work done at an unnamed CC dealer in Tucson. They had to open the bedroom engine hatch and besides a little grease they didn't get the carpet back correctly. I called CC and they said the carpet has to be removed and restapled. Anyone done this and have any suggestions on the best way to do it? Since I'll need to get a valve adjustment next year I figure I'll need to know how to do this.

Then unlatched the engine cover and it was in full view. But with the sideways bed and back closet, getting to the engine seems a difficult task.
We had a breakdown and the mobile tech wanted to access the engine from the top to make the air line repair easier, but being new to CC we didn't tackle the job.
The tech ended up taking the muffler off to get inside the engine area to reach the air line that had a hole in it. The fix was easy, just getting to it was the hard part. Seems the lines were run too close to the exhaust and the tube was slowing melting. It finally gave away....conveniently in a Costco parking lot! Couldn't pass up that shopping opportunity!

In the fall of 2004 I received great instruction from the group on how to access the engine compartment. My concern was lubricating the pack brake. After the slide is out, there is an access door that is found in the step up area that goes partially under the closet doors. If the carpet has not been cut, you will have to do that. Mine starts about 8 inches from the left or passenger side and 3 inches from the edge. Once it is pried up and out from under the mirrors, there is another door with bolts to remove. Once there, you can see the engine and if the pack brake was not installed upside down like mine was, you can lubricate it. Mine was turned over at Newport Diesel with CC picking up the bill even though it was out of warranty. My Allure is shorter, older and may not be the same, but someone in the group with a matching model to yours can confirm it. Good luck. John 2002 Allure

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Help with bedroom engine hatch If you lift your bed and look carefully at the carpet on the raised area between the bed and the closet you'll find the seams in the carpet. You'll find the removable panel fits under the rise for the closet to the rear of the coach, under the bed to the front and about 18 to 20 inches left or ]right of the center line of the coach. The panel can only be removed by lifting the end under the bed. The other end is wedged under the closet riser. There are no bolts or screws holding it in place. Comb the surrounding carpet away from the seam when you put the panel together and make sure everyone wears gloves and covers thwe carpet to prevent soiling the carpet. I had to experience this while helping the Cummin's techs test my Charge air cooler for leaks and further replacement. TWI 2004 42'. TWI Intrigue with Cummins 400.
