CAT C-9 coolant temp

James, Jim, John The temp thing still bugs me. I've got some interesting info that I have collected with some testing. First, I have bought a new sending unit and gage from the factory. I have tested both ( bench ) the installed and bought units to find that both sets read correctly at boiling ( 212 +or- a couple ). CC says the analog gages are not accurate, so don't pay attention to them. It's an entertainment center!!! Also, I have moved the sending unit position from the back of the thermostat housing to the front of the head where CAT says it should be ( manual ). No temp difference with the gages. I do not have an ECM. When driving down the highway, the coach reads about 205 to 210. if you stop in traffic the temp cools down to 190 ( the thermostat temp ) and stays there. Driving in the Rockies, in the summer, the temp seems to stay at the 210 number even when you hear the radiator cooling fan running at full speed. I think there is a themostat issue not opening up all the way at 190. The strange thing is the Cummins powered coaches are doing the same thing.
The Mountain Aire, we had before the CC, went to 180 and never moved. Cars do the same thing. Well........ We have a temp issue with the Allison too. The MA stayed at 175 all day long and the CC runs at 230.
