Refrigerator and inverter

I have a 2005 Allure 470. My refer does not work on AC with inverter ON. Is this the way the wiring is? Are the two plugs behind the refer only for shore/ generator power?

Most dont. The fridge would totally discharge all your house batteries in one night. Most inverters are wired around the fridge so they don't run with the inverter on.

Hi Tom,

It appears that what you state has not changed since that is the way our 2000 Allure works - Gas or Shore/Gen power only and no inverter.
I can only state that gas is more efficient than 120vac. It may even be that the modified square wave (non-sine wave inverter) is not acceptable for use.

I can't say for sure, but you might check the output of the two 110v plugs at the back of the refer. One should be for the icemaker and one for the refer. If you connect the one for the icemaker to the inverter then the icemaker will work when the refer is running on propane and there is no generator or shore power. On mine both are connected to generator/shore power, but only one is connected to the inverter!

Fred and Tom (the other one) are correct. CCI does not wire the inverter to the refer receptacle. It seems too many folks were running their batteries down if the refer ran off of the inverter.
But----I had my Intrigue re-wired to accept inverter AC at the refer plug in. I keep it on elec while on the road and all works well with the engine alternator keeping the batteries up. That way I can turn the propane main valve off while driving. When dry camping I must remember to switch to propane. This has been my modus op on my Intrigue and on my former Dynasty. No problem, you just have to use your head about when to switch to propane. The rewire is not a big job.

I think the refrigerator only works on AC when plugged in or the generator going - otherwise it is on propane - at least that's the way mine works

You might find that you have three options for your refer - A/C, propane or automatic. Automatic will always use A/C if available, but propane will use propane even if there is A/C. Your icemaker needs A/C so you need your inverter on when running on propane without any shore power or generator.

We have the all electric 470 coach. The inverter runs the refrigerator. There are two additional AGM batteries with this option but even with them the residential size refrigerator will draw them down quickly.
To be candid, I am not in favor of the all electric coach. It cause you to run the generator a lot when dry camping. We compromised because we wanted the additional floor space in the bedroom and my other half wanted the ice in the door feature.
Having the option of LP as well as 110V is a much better way to go and in addition you get LP water heating if desired.

We also have the all electric 2006 model year 470 Allure coach. I agree with you on the all electric coach but also compromized with the wife! Small world I guess!

Mike don't you have solar panels? I have added just one and my battery issues are gone away. I think two or three panels and yours wojuld be history also. I you need it I have the desing guy who sells units to CC.
