plastic handle on 2002 screen door

I know a lot of people like to get to results without reading instructions. With that said, I've had my share of non-motor-homers who think they can open the screen door on my 2002 Intrigue by pushing the plastic handle out instead of down.
Has anyone come up with a more substantial handle (for the 2002 Intrigue/Allure screen door) that can "handle" this inadvertent abuse? Thank you in advance.

?..soon to be climbing out the window unless I totally disassemble my handle.

We buy them in bulk! We've gotten pretty good at opening the screen door with a knife until my husband can put a new one on. I'd love to know of an alternative as well.

I've had the same problem, but fixed the handle so it can take much more abuse without breaking. Here is how I did it...
Remove the 2 bolts that hold the handle in place. Buy a small piece of 1/16" thick strong black plastic. Cut it to fit the handle.
Glue it in place with superglue or other adhesive that essentially melts the plastic and the extra piece and the handle become as one.
Drill the holes thru the handle in the original location and remount with slightly longer bolts.

My handle has survived more than 2 years of abuse from visitors and friends and has not broken yet. It looks like the factory one, but is much more durable.

I find I'm going to have to find a way to keep the plastic shut that goes in front of the door latch. The cat is soon going to figure out how to slide it open and get out. He keeps messing with that little button and one of these days he'll figure it out.

Amazing. If you can build a $750,000 Affinity and people buy it, why not improve the screen doors. The most ineffective and frustrating part of our 1995 Magna is the wimpy screen door. Entry level coaches have better doors. I would have thought CC had improved the screen door situation by 2003.

One of our visiting friends broke our plastic screen door handle last month. We purchased a small piece of steel at the local hardware store, cut it to the same size as the broken outer plastic piece, drilled holes in the same place as the original, purchased two longer screws and repaired it. The broken outer piece was left in place. It has worked well since. There is enough space to add the piece of steel between the screen and regular door. John 2002 Allure
