2005 Inspire weight by corner

Yahoo Message Number: 23060
Recently had my coach weighed with following results Front driver side 4950

Front passenger side 6250 Total 11200 Difference 1300

Rear driver side 10650

Rear passenger side 9600 Total 20250 Difference 1050

Gray and black tanks were emty, fuel tank was full, Water tank was 5/8s full, and Propane was 3/4s full

I don't believe any of the personal items we had on the coach or in the bays can account for the large variances from side to side (front right-rear left).

Does anyone know if the difference relates to the way they are built?

Hi Charles,

I would not use those numbers as exact.
The correct method is a 6 point weighing as found in the TOYO tire catalog. You weigh the front, full coach, rear, LF, Lside, LR and use the formulas in the catalog.

Hello Charles - Happy Memorial Day!
My weight sheet from the factory has my right front >300 lbs heavier than the left front, and the left rear nearly 500 lbs heavier than the right rear.

Is your Inspire a daVinci? Genoa?

Does anyone know what loading conditions the factory puts aboard when they weigh the coaches?

Where did you find a "four corners" scale? I want to weigh my coach but cannot find anything other than the truck stop, front-rear variety.

Is the fresh water tank more on the driver's side than the passengers? There's about 500 lbs of water in a tank that is 5/8 full.

I weighed mine a Mayflower scale when we got ours though the only accurate weights were those of the front, rear and overall coach weight. This was due to the crowned scale so the weighing of the individual corners was not accurate, at least they did not total up to the front, rear and overall readings.

Here is what I got:

front overall: 10180
rear overall: 18980
Total coach: 29160

This was with full LP, no water (very little), me in the coach, and full fuel. We had nothing else in the coach other than maybe a 100 lbs of general stuff we put in once we got it.

Our coach is a 36' Inspire with 4 slides.
Here are the other readings on the corners which are not accurate in my opinion due to the crowned scale on the sides (but not on the ends:

Passenger front: 4600

Drivers front: 4540 total: 9140 difference above: 1040 Passenger rear: 9100

Drivers rear: 9040 total: 18140 difference above: 840 total coach: 27280 difference above: 1880

Even with the crowning these numbers do not show any significant difference from side to side, arond 60 lbs.

Hope this helps.

Not sure why a formula is necessary.
I have set of 'wheel weighers', alum platforms about 2" high. You put one in front of each front wheel, drive up on them, and write down the reading from the digital display. Repeat for the rear, and for the tag if you have one. Battery operated and portable ... well 50 lbs each, uuggghhh.

Pretty simple.

If anyone is passing thru South Beloit, IL, this summer, send me and email. I will be happy to weight your coach for free, takes about 10 minutes. I will take them to FL this fall.

They are not 'official', but pretty close.

Where did you get them?... I look on the web and most seem to cost around $1k each.... I'd be interested in getting a set of my own if there were cheaper (or used) available...

(Otherwise I may try to find you in FL...lol... speaking of which: Where in FL will you be?)

Thanks

I would have the ride height valves checked after you have rebalanced the coach the best you can. On my 98 Allure with a 1100 lb difference, they used the ride height valves to transfer about 350 lbs off the left front tire, just the opposie if your case. Here is a link showing what I have ...
http://www.cas-usa.com/product/rw-1(s).htm

We used them to weight our little grain truck, and used them to weight our Dutch Star when there was a big rumble of the right front tire being overloaded. They payed for themselves right there in peace of mind when the front corner weights came out fine.

I paid around $2500, but they are around $3000 now (a pair).
We take our MH to Polk City in the winter, Mount Olive Shores North.

Read your bathroom door for factory scale weights. Did factory distribute coach loads correctly? If rear air valves are not set correctly, rear air bags will twist coach against front sway bar.
Twisting will show as higher weights on opposite corners.
