Hughs Autoformer installation

Yahoo Message Number: 23550
Anyone internally install a Hughs autoformer in their coach. Picked up a used one and am trying to figure out how to install it inside the coach. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Larry,

The problem is where is the room - the Hughes must be installed between the outside shore power connector and the surge protector (the box with the key and lights). Maybe using some space outside the area where the shore/generator switch and surge protector is located.
Consult your 120vac schematics to get an understanding of the existing hookup.

Do any of the coaches come with an Autoformer as standard equipment?

We did install a Hughes Autoformer inside the Electronic Bay. It did work for several months, but then died - burned up.
A possibility cause of burn up, was we were in a RV Park an had electrical spikes. Then also a possibility was not enough ventilation.
Now we just hook it up at the pedestal. Kind of a pain having to move it in and out.
Now Hughes Autoformer people said if you have a 50 amp coach, you need a 50 amp Autoformer.
