For those of you who are enchanted by (or, have endured) Camp Country Coach over the years, I am delighted to inform you that the entertainment in the wee small hours of the morning is still alive and well. At precisely 2:07, 2:29 and 3:18 a.m. the freight trains lumbered through blasting many crossings prior to CCC and many post CCC. The creative timing is such that you wake up, drift off again in order to be wakened, drift and wakened. Ah, the amenities we enjoy at Camp Country Coach.

The Union Pacific stuff on the main line doesn't bother me, its that local switcher on the tracks thru the middle of town, that rubs me the wrong way. He delights in creeping through town at all hours blowing his horn as if he were facing rush hour traffic and he was moving 80 miles per hour. He delights in making everyone suffer as he does working that time of night.

We just spent 3 1/2 days getting service at Camp Country Coach in Junction City. They have revised the whole system of service appointments since we were there last summer. They are taking few coaches at any one time, they have installed a team concept with a supervisor overseeing the teams work and finally, they have one technician that you work with eliminating the communication problems of yesteryear. Because of these changes, appointments are now being taken for October! So, it pays to call for a service appointment far in advance of the need. Also, because of these changes, the camping situation is improved. We stayed one night at "B" level and were moved up to "A" level with full hook-ups the second and third nights.
We were very pleased with the experience and I wrote this email to Jim Howard, Jim Cooney, Doug Rutherford and Mark Marvel:
"I am Shirley O'Brien, 2006 Allure 470, 38 feet, #31290 in for service June 25 through 28.

We pulled into the parking lot Monday morning and were greeted by Mark, discussed our list, revised it and then Eric Friedenberg took over. At first contact, we were very impressed with Eric's focus and concern for our issues but as we worked with Eric through the next four days we were even more pleased with his ability to communicate, work with us within the system he has to work and accomplish those items which were important to us. We were finished 1/2 day before we expected to be finished which included new steps and even two-color paint!
We inquired about how the new team concept works, how each team member has the same bay and how they report to the team manager. This new organization appears to be a positive change from the past 10 or 15 times we have been to Camp Country Coach.

So, we just wanted to let you know that we have good feelings about about everything BUT the early morning freight trains at Camp Country Coach."

Thank you for the preview of the new CC Service Camp. We have never been able to have service work done in the CC shop but look forward to being there some day.
