Desert Storm Update

Yahoo Message Number: 1508
I picked up our Desert Storm last evening. The modification Colton Truck made to our 99 Allure was to fabricate a shield/baffle, using all of a 24" x 30" mud flap. They attached it to the bottom of the fan assembly and directed the air flow to slightly below the bottom of the engine. At that point it hangs a couple of inches below the engine. The air is directed on a more horizontal line out the passenger side of the coach. Still the same amount of air, but not straight down. They did a very clean job in mounting the shield. The cost was a little over $100.
I drove the coach on the freeway a little over 40 miles at speeds up to 65mph. I listened for any difference in sound, cavitation or vibration. Nothing seemed different. At that time of day, and with So Cal traffic, it was difficult to find a large area of dirt for a good test. I did pull in front of a small strawberry stand that was on dirt. No dust at a slow speed. However, when I accelerated away (fairly hard to get back into traffic) it blew out pretty good on the passenger side. It appeared to be a different pattern of dust than before and not as much of it. I plan to put the coach through a better test this weekend before I wash it. I'll let you all know the results.
I would like to let you know that the Colton Truck Terminal Garage is a fine repair shop. It is an easy access off and back on the I10 freeway. There is a diesel fuel station and a truck wash just a block away on the same street. The Garage is a good size operation for RV's and trucks. I would estimate about 20 bays about 1/2 full of RV's. They are a Factory Service Center for CC as well as the new line up of Monaco's, Georgie Boy, etc. I noted that all the other RV's being serviced were fairly new Monaco brand (Dynasty's, HR's, Beaver, etc.) coaches. While our coach was there, I had them check the cruise control and put on new front shocks. They replaced the original Gabriel's with Koni's. I noticed the difference in handling right away. The two key people there are Ed (who worked on our coach) and Steve. The address is 863 East Valley Blvd. There phone No. is 909.825.4080 and FAX is 909.825.0322. This garage came highly recommended by David King at CC and now me. PS.. I did not notice any grease marks on the exterior or interior of the coach.
I don't believe that I mentioned before that we are very pleased with our CC and their staff. Their people are extremely helpful and always available. At least they return calls. Since we are second owners I was very concerned about this. We are proud to be member of the CC family.
