This is an excellent, updated document written by Lee Zaborowski, complete with photos. Bob Handren, Roger Uhlich and Herb Strandberg contributed to this document.
Once you see these photos, you will understand the safety issues involved. You might not see, on your coach, as much gear wear shown here, or you might experience total failure, with possible loss of steering and/or expensive, time-consuming damage to other components.
Every coach from 2003 to present should be checked to see if a DRY-PTO is present. See the file to understand what you should be looking for. Earlier coaches did not use DRY-PTOs.
If you own a 2003 (maybe 2004) to present coach, do yourself and your family a favor and check. Read the document and look at the photos in this file. If necessary, print this file and take it to your mechanic so that they know exactly what to look for.

Then, if you still have questions, post your question to the group.

Beautiful job. I think the update cures substantially all the shortcomings of the earlier version 1.0 doc. Easy to read, easy to understand, and a great resource. Thanks to the authors. Mike
