Oil Dip Stick Housing Failure

It is apparent (recent failure on my Allure) that any contact of the dip stick housing with either the oil filter or the turbo housing will eventually lead to rupture of the housing and considerable loss of engine oil especially if the pak brake pressure reduction mod has not been performed (blowby pressure reduction).
It is important to check routing of the housing and tie wrap it away from any contact with another structure. The clamp support at the top of the housing may need to be modified to relocate the housing to help cure rubbing.

Hi Joey,

The back pressure is reduced from 20-24 psi to 12 psi by drilling holes in the pak brake butterfly valve which lets exhaust gasses through, this in turn reduces the oil pan pressure which reduces oil being expelled through the blow-by tube which is next to the oil filter. It also is to reduce the possibility of oil escaping through the front engine oil seal.

Hi Dick,

Yes, I caught it during a check for leaks following a oil and filter change. I slide a plastic hose over the housing (Ace Hardware purchase) and clamped it at both ends. CC was concerned and their QC is to inspect on all production. Service is also aware - they replaced the housing and Doug Rutherford was emailed a picture.

Mine failed when it was burned through by the Turbo housing heat. I think Lazy Days charged me one hour labor to change it out, can't remember what the cost of the newly designed one from country coach was but it has asbesto like material around the dip stick housing now. Hope that solves the problem.
This should be inspected periodically to be sure that the housing is not damaged and causing loss of oil
