Dometic, Duo-Therm A/C Heat Pump problems

Have been having problems for some time. Working with Dometic and Country Coach. Open to suggestions

Front A/C-Heat Pump
Problem:
1. ? Fan makes a scrubbing noise which gets louder as it runs (wife says it sounds like a washing machine on spin). It does not always happen.

2. ? When running and the fan is making its noise, fan stops and compressor keeps running. We normally just shut is down.

Friday November 9, 2007. System ran all day set Heat pump at 68 degrees, fan auto. System basically ran all day fan in low, making noise pushing approx. 80 to 90 degree air. Friday evening set system to off . At 10pm turned system on at same settings and it operated fine pushing 120+/- degree air, fan in low.
 Saturday November 10, 2007. System had been running OK all day with normal noise.

Settings were Heat Pump, 68 degrees, Fan auto. Outside temperature was mid 50's daytime to mid 40's night. When ever system cycled on fan would operate on low speed.

At 5:39 am (Nov. 11th) fan quit, compressor kept running. I switched switch on bottom of thermostat off, waited 5 min. and switched it back on, System came on, fan in low pushing 80 degree air.

At 5:57 am fan quit again. This time I switched it to Air Conditioning, 55 degrees, fan auto. The system came on immediately, fan in high mode blowing cold air and then cycled off at 6:04am. I switched it back to Heat pump same setting as before. After approx.
2 min Heat Pump cycled on, fan in low pushing 84 degree air.
At 8:00am the fan quit and compressor kept running. I turned switch off for a couple of minutes and then turned it back on. The System started after a delay and pushed 80 degree air.
At 8:40 am the fan quit again and I just shut it off.

Rear A/C-Heat Pump
Problem:
1.- Sporadically Rear unit will blow cold air in Heat Pump Mode.

Friday November 9, 2007. System off all day. At 6:00pm set Heat pump at 68 degrees, fan auto. System ran, normal operation cycling on and off pushing 130 degree air.
At 4:00am (Sat. Nov 10th) System cycled on pushing 22 degree air. I switched it over to Air Conditioning, 58 degree setting, fan on auto. The system came on pushing 18 degree air for 5 minutes. I then set the system on Heat Pump, 68 degrees, fan auto. The system cycled on at 4:27am pushing 90 to 130 degree air at 4:38am. At 4:43 system cycled off and continued to operate normally.

Saturday November 10, 2007. I left the system on all day. Settings were Heat Pump, 68 degrees, Fan auto. Outside temperature was mid 50's daytime to mid 40's night. As far as I know it operated normally all day.

At 5:30 am System cycled on pushing cold air. I set it to off. At 5:39am when front unit fan quit I turned back unit on and it operated normally pushing 130 degree air.

Had problem a couple of weeks ago with the rear AC unit fan making a lot of noise. Took the cover off the unit and found mud dabbers had made a home up there. The fan is on rubber mounts and it was so out of balance that it rubbed against the housing. I knocked the nests off and it worked fine. The cage of the fan will move when you push on it, but should return to center and not touch the housing.

When our heat pumps go into the defrost mode, the word "DEFROST" appears on the DuoTherm Comfort Control. Look for it when documenting your problems. Also, when the defrost mode ends, the unit gives off a huge "sigh of relief" sound.
