I cannot recommend a place because I have not been there in years. But---don't go without reservations because they stay booked up this time of year.
I like to leave I-10 at Van Horn, TX and go on 90 to Del Rio. A very good road (2 lane) and scenic drive. Very little traffic. Have not been the rest of the way down but I would probably take the road along the border.

Hi O'Brien's,

There is a really great one in Mission, TX next to Bentsen State Park. It is Bentsen Palm Village RV Park. It gets great reviews on rvparkreviews.com.

The place we stay is in Mercedes, TX, east of McAllen about 20 miles. It is Llano Grande Lake Park Resort. We always stay in the newer North Section. Wide paved streets, concrete pads and lots of grapefruit, palm and orange trees (nothing tall enough to interfere with satellite). Plus a golf course. This place also gets great reviews, and has reasonable monthly rates.

We are the couple who was several sites down from you at Pacific Shores in Newport, and then in the site next to you at Country Coach in Junction City this past summer.

Shirley I arrived in the Valley this evening and it is 79 at 8 pm. We went 3600 miles from Mn to the east coast and across the gulf to get here Put 3400 miles on our motorcycle while we were on the road for two months and had a great time.
If you want an upscale resort I have friends who stay at Victoria Palms and are very happy. They have lots of activities but I think that they are a little small in lot size. in our park we have a grassy site that is 40 X 135 and mowed by the park, my cement driveway is 12 X 80 and I have a 12 X 12 metal shed to keep the cycle in.
There are Jam sessions in almost 100 rv parks every week. You can go nuts trying to just go listen send me an email and I will have one of the friends, who plays at the jam sessions and can carry a note in something smaller than the bucket I have to use, send you some info on music options down here.

I 10 and stop in Hill country on the way down to break up the trip.
