Norcold refrig cooling unit

Yahoo Message Number: 35661
My Norcold refrigerator quit cooling. The first repair place reset the circuit board. It then worked so that the freezer was a refrigerator and the refrigerator didn't cool at all. The night before my appt at the 2nd repair place it started working correctly. That r.v. place thought they should check it out anyway ($!) and said it was working properly. Then it quit cooling again and the third repair place followed Norcold's instructions for resetting the circuit board and disconnecting two things (don't know what). It then had to run on AC manual for 6 hours. It cooled and made ice better than it ever has.
Norcold says it needs a new cooling unit and the reason is that cc installed the frig too far from the wall. This lets the heat build up.
CC says they are installed to Norcold's specs and this isn't so. The repair place wants to build a baffle and insulate the sides of the frig. The cooling unit will be covered by Norcold's warranty but the labor of $600 will be my responsibility. I don't know how much of the labor is for the cooling unit vs building a baffle. Comments/opinions please.

Pati,

My son has a Norcold with the same problem. After spending time at several service centers, with no fix, he went to Tom Johnsons in Marrion, NC. They contacted Norcold and was informed that there was a service bulletin out to replace the circulator fans in the back of the unit. Had the fan replaced with a larger one. Unit works fine now.
