Route One

Has someone made the trip (I am sure) from Leggett, CA on route 1 to Fort Bragg and route 20 to Wllits, CA with 40 foot and pick-up under tow. I plan this trip between Xmas and New Year. Thanks Lee Ramage 11784 Intrigue

Went over to Ft Bragg with 34' Airstream TT and another time with 36' Allure. I used highway 28 in and out to 101. No problem. Also came up from Jenner pulling the Airstream and even though it wasn't tourist season I would never do that again. To much time was spent on the wrong side of the centerline. The road from Leggett was too narrow for me 10 years ago with the 96" trailer, but maybe things have changed?

Lee,

We made this trip 2 years ago. If you enjoy going around "BLIND" curves in the oncoming lane (to avoid hitting the steep slopes on the side), you will find this trip OK. For approximately 10 miles from Leggett south was probably one of the worst memorable drives with our 40 foot coach we've made. (rest of route was fine) I must add, even though we were towing a car, our coach doesn't have the newer turning radius, so perhaps you may not have the same memories.

In any event, it's a pretty trip (when it's sunny).

We drove from Hwy 101 via Hwy 1 to Ft Bragg in our Jeep and decided we would use route 20 from Willits to Ft Bragg on the next trip from South Bound 101 with the MH and Toad.

We used Rt 20 to Ft Bragg and then drove Hwy 1 to Manchester Beach.
Our return to 101 was via Hwy 1 north to 128 and then to Cloverdale.

There was one drop and turn on Hwy 1 that we bottomed out on the southbound leg in a 120 degree turn south of the 128 intersection.
Otherwise no real problems.

There is a king pin restriction from Leggett to FB, so that will tell you it has lots of curves. It is a beautiful drive as others have said. Willits to FB (20) is not too bad. I have driven it for 25 years. You may like to park in FB and day trip to Leggett.
If I decided to take the MH from FB to Leggett, my wife would not go! John 31060
