Would some one be kind enough to outline their suggested temporary fix when the coach won`t level properly for traveling ( I inadvertnetly erased the various messages concerning this subject). Please keep it simple, I`m just a dumb retired lawyer, not an engineer!
In addition, has anyone had their CAT engine serviced in central Florida, specifically the Orlando area? There are several CAT service facilities here but they appear to service mainly tractors and trucks. I would rather have my CAT serviced by someone who at least knows what a motor home is.

Problem:

Coach did not level when it was placed in drive mode.....in this case the left side was dropped down to the bottom of the stops.

Fix;
1. Find the HWH control-wiring box which is located somewhere in an area adjacent to one of the basement storage bays.
2. Remove the cover of the box and locate the "Travel" blade fuse (in my case it was fuse #12). Note, fuse listing is glued to inside of box cover. Remove this fuse and store for later re-insertion.
3. Use your normal HWH coach leveling buttons to manually level the coach as if you were parking the coach at your RV site.
4. Make sure you raise the coach enough off of the wheels. I had the top of the enterior fiberglass wheel well arch about 2 inches above the rear tires, then I brought the front wheels up to level the coach -- front-to-back.
5. You can now drive the coach.
6. As you begin driving listen carefully in the bedroom of the coach. Listen for a grinding sound. This grinding noise would be the universal joints grinding against each other as you drive down the road. If this sound occurs, this means that the coach height is still too low or too high. This alignment should place the drive shaft to be in a fairly straight line between the engine and the transmission. Raise or lower the coach as needed. You can do these changes while driving down the road (not easy to determine what is "level" ).

7. The only difference in driving should be the lack of level control as the coach rounds corners.
8. Per Jorie Leever at CC, while in this mode, you can drive the coach 1,000 miles or more to get it serviced.

Handicap lift

Does anyone know who handles handicap lifts for motor homes? I need a lift to get my wife up the stairs and in the door of our coach as she can not walk and uses a wheel chair. I don't need to lift the chair, just her.

I discussed a similar situation with an RV dealer a few years ago. He told me adding a lift is not a problem on most models of large motorhomes. He sold Fleetwood, American Coach and Safari (SMC) at the time. There are different kinds of lifts for different purposes.

If you don't get the answer you're looking for here, I suggest you post your question on the "rightseatdriver" newsgroup here on Yahoo. That is a small group of people who are, or travel with handicapped people. Someone there may already have what your wife needs and can tell you about his/her experience.

When the CAT C10 in our 2000 Magna was due for service and first valve adjustment, I used Ringhaver CAT in Palm Bay, FL. I felt they had very competent techs and gave me good service --- we've not had any CAT engine problems so I can't comment on any other experience there. Ringhaver had several types of equipment in their service bays and told me that they do work on CAT powered motorhomes also (there was one other MH in for service while I was there). I will go there again when in need of CAT engine service.

Thanks to all of you folks who have provided me with info. I have located two sources and they are sending me prices and specs. for me to look at. Looks like prices range from about $3000 to $7000 so have to look at them pretty good.
