Medford, OR.

Hi group, I want to break my journey to Junction City by stopping in or close to Medford for two nights in October.
Any RV Park recommendations? I have a campground directory but would like to hear from people who have actually used the parks and are "happy" campers.

Thank you.

David and Karen,

We stayed at Holliday Rv Park just off exit 24 in Phoenix. Very nice park, lots of trees and far enough off the freeway so you don't hear traffic all night.

Hi,

We stayed at a beautiful Oregon State Park near Medford in October 2000 when we were on the way to JC for service. It's called The Valley of the Rogue State Park. It's located right alongside the Rogue River between Grants Pass and Medford. The park is close to an I-5 Exit and has very large grass & tree covered sites, cement pads, is very neat & clean, etc. You can find a description at http://www.oregonstateparks.org/searchpark.php
Wish we were up there now, it's still hot & humid down here in Titusville, FL.

While stopping off in Medford you may want to check out a small shop that does custom MH interior work and can order flexsteel products and rediculously low prices. I took my '95 Intrigue down there and had new couches installed. The complete job of disassembly, custom modifications to the couches, and the installation took just one long day. The URL is:

Jacksonville is also a nice old gold mining town just outside Medford.

In Oregon, many of the 74 state operated scales are open 24 x 7. I think that it may have something to do with the huge logging industry many yrs ago and the PUC licenses- they weighed each load as the came out of the woods. Although the "dog house" may look closed, usually the scale is functional. You'll need to peer into the window to get a reading and some have digital readouts that activate when you drive onto the scale. There is a scale on the highway to Florence, OR from Eugene and i've used that one several times. I pulled up to that scale about a year ago and the weighmaster was there (his car was hidden behind the building, otherwise I wouldn't have stopped). He took all 4 weights for me and handed over a sheet, no charge.

BTW, I consulted the Les Schwab dealer here in Tumwater, WA and got some bad information about tires & tire pressures. The best source for this information is the tire manufaturers' website. I need to replace my tires, and I believe that the Michelin XRV is the best solution out there right now for our diesel rigs. Apparently the XRV was formulated for better comfort but less mileage. I have some on order from Phelps Tire Center in Tacoma.

Michelin offers some advice on tire pressures:

Dick and David - Just returned from the CCI rally in ElDorado, KS and they mentioned a free weighing station sponsored by the state of Oregon and I believe it was on Airport Road.
Having no thought of being in JC soon, I only half way listened. Someone at Les Schwab or CC should surely be able to tell you where this spot is.

Hope this helps.
