Disable Daytime Running Lights

Is there any way to manually disable the daytime running lights? I find that when I'm in campgrounds at night, and need to turn the ignition on for something, I will blind the guy camping in front of me. I find this extremely inconsiderate and embarrassing. I wonder why the daytime running lights aren't wired through the parking brake? That way, they only come on when you're moving. Is there some type of fix or switch that I could install myself?
