Replacing Black tank valve....yuck

Yahoo Message Number: 3054
I just spent three hours replacing my black tank valve. What a PITA.
The original valve would not close completely so would allow liquid to get to the cap. Every time I undid the cap prior to attaching sewer hose there would be a small but unpleasant release of waste water.
Could have had it changed when at the factory last month but thought it was a job I could easily handle personally so purchased a replacement valve and today was the big day.
Discovered the only way to get the black tank valve out necessitated removing the gray tank valve also. Managed this part of the job fairly quickly but getting the two valves and respective seals back in place proved to be a major undertaking as it was difficult to get the valves in place without messing up the seals.
I wish now I had watched the production people install the valves when on the factory visit. I suspect the valves and common discharge pipe are pre assembled and actually attached to one waste tank before the second waste tank is put in place.
Clearly the designers gave no thought about how to replace a faulty valve.
Hopefully the finished job is OK and we will field test the valves next weekend at a small local rally.
Had I known what a PITA this was going to be I would have had it replaced at a company rally as one of my three free repairs?
