We've had LOTS of cabinet work done by Davis, and all is well. They are not email-friendly. Just keep calling if haven't heard back.
We've been very happy with all their work and followup "tuneups" (i.e. they put a new slide on our computer pullout shelf when they switched to better slides, etc.) Have had a whole wall of cabinets put on the passenger side including computer desk/file cab. etc. and the whole headbumper front redone with new 32" Tv, etc. Also rear TV redone.

For satellite, there are two places in JC I know of...both highly recommended, although we've not used them. A new one is Sound Sensations whose work seems terrific (mostly sound systems but they seemed very knowledgeable about their satellite systems also) also Advanced Satellite (541-607-8969) has been recommended by CCers.

Scott Adams has also had very good recommendations for cabinet work and he is in the JC area. (see the Database at the side for his number and info).

Maybe thats why Scott at Amazing Creations is doing so much business.
Davis Cabinets gotr to the point that they were the only guy in town and it was a take it or leave it situation. No doubt they did good work but they thought they could charge whatever they wanted. Scott gives you the same or better quality of work at a more reasonable price. When you get too greedy it comes back to haunt you. Think Krispy Creme.

Harry -

Just in case you still need it, here is the info you need:

Scott Adams

Amazing Creations

We were at his shop last Saturday observing an installation he was doing for a friend with a CC. I understand he is booked into October as of now. He has another young fellow, Bobby Vodden, working with him and he does the audio/video systems.

Hi All,

I am a member of the Newmar Yahoo group and this was just posted by someone out there. I copied the whole posting for all to read. Don't know if it's true but thought it might be worth checking out if you did an LLC.
########

Just received this from our state NKK directors. Thought all should know about this.

""The purpose of this e-mail is for you to inform any coach owners that

you know might have Montana plates about the ongoing investigation in

AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, IO, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NE, NV, NJ, NC OH, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI, and WY. If they are IL residents and would like more information, have them call Jason Poling, ROT Discovery, IL Dept. of Revenue (217-785-7038).

Julie and I were contacted by the IL Department of Revenue at the Region 4 Rally that was held at Double J Campground near Springfield. The Dept. of Revenue and IRS agents came to the Park to

see if any coaches had Montana plates. They found some and wanted us

to provide them with the IL NKK membership list. We refused the request, but they will seek the information from the Klub and possibility from us after the Klub and/or us are served with appropriate legal papers.

State Department of revenue agents in 26 states plus Montana have been working together to determine individuals who have registered their coaches in Montana and own property and/or pay income tax in IL

or one of the other 25 states. Many owners of coaches in the 26 states have enter into contract with Limited Liability Company in Montana to avoid paying sales tax on their coach. Since they own property and/or pay income tax in IL or one of the other 25 states they most likely will receive letters in indicating they are in violation of their state revenue laws. In IL they will receive a letter in two or more weeks indicating they will be audited.

Some, but not all states, will allow owners of coaches that are deemed in violation to submit an voluntary disclosure before the letters are sent. IL is one of the states that wants owners to have the opportunity to submit a BOA-2, Application for Voluntary Disclosure with a check paying the sales tax on the coach during the

next two weeks. If the form is received in time, the owner will not be audited and could be eligible for an abatement of some or all of the related penalties on the tax, which run from 15-22%.

We have talked with Jason Poling at the IL Department of Revenue.
He

is a very professional person who is willing to provide information about the violation and provide assistance in completing the BOA-2 form. He will send the form by e-mail to anyone who wants it. He will not record any telephone conservations and people call do not have to provide their name if they so desire.""

Good Luck,
Kathy

Thanx, Kathy. We would plan on having the work done around the time of next year's CC Reunion. I have an 06 Inspire with two coaches and we want to replace the D/S couch with a computer desk and lounger. We have heard that Davis does good work also, so I'm not sure who we'll try to go with. May depend on their availabilty and prices.

I've always wondered why states were allowing this source of revenue to slip through their fingers since it is pretty straight forward that it is a tax avoidance scam.

I'd almost believe that 26 states could get together on something IF this list didn't include the "other" most popular states for absentee vehicle registration - SD, TX, and FL! There is no way these states are going to spend money on something that will substantially reduce their revenue stream. Something isn't quite right with this information - I suspect it's a complete fraud originally posted by someone who is jealous of people who understand what a tax loophole is and make their own decision to take advantage of it. (BTW, I do not have a MT corp, my vehicles are registered in FL, but I do have a business incorporated in DE because of advantageous tax laws.)

First of all this is tax smart, not tax evasion. Every American has the right to reduce their tax burden via legal means. I don't practice law though I do have a law degree. If I remember correctly from my law school days (from the course "Conflicts of Laws")I am quite certain that if the states in question would move on this it would be challenged in federal court because it involves the Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution. Each state has the right to establish its own laws regarding corporations and therefore because of the Full Faith and Credit clause of the constitution the other states are required to recognize the sister state's laws and abide by them. Thousands of companies incorporate in Delaware precisely because of their tax benefits and the courts have upheld this right over and over again throughout jurisprudence history. I don't have a Montana corporation for the purpose of purchasing; operating and maintaining RV's but, if Montana allows this through their laws then the other states are simply out of luck unless they can overcome some huge obstacles (legal precedence) in the Federal Court system. Consult your attorney before you take any action on this. Also, don't lose any sleep over it, the wheels of the legal system move very slowly on issues like state's rights. Any practicing lawyers want to chime in on this - please do. Jim Twamley, Contributing Editor, RV Travel.com CC# 30429 Notice: Again, I am not a practicing attorney, therefore the above statement is only my personal opinion. Please consult a licenced attorney when making decisions on this issue.

Just had shelves installed in the bays, drawers installed in the kitchen, and a new cabinet installed on my end table in the bed room and a stool made for the co-pilot MONDAY. Shawn had 8 coaches on the property that day and the place was all a buzz.

Ray,

Moral compasses aren't totally outdated quite yet. I don't see this as any more of a "morals" or "ethics" issue than I do in trying to decide whether to file the 1040EZ form or the itemized long form when I pay my taxes. It's a 'no-brainer'. Why pay a tax when there is LEGAL provision made for NOT paying the tax? Yeah, it may take a little more effort to file the long form or to form an LLC to avoid paying taxes that you COULD pay if you choose to do so, but I've never been 'moneyed' enough to hand the gov't tax dollars they're not legally entitled to. They made the rules.........I'll play by 'em!

List... Gordo here.

Oh no... Not this thread again-!!

In my world... You pay the taxes you use and garage the MoHo in. Plain and rather simple. If you live, lets say in California (like I do). You should be paying the sales and registration fees for this State.

Call LLC's whatever you want (it's a mind set). But the bottom line is you'll get caught sooner then later playing this game in California (and others) nowadays.

To be down right honest with those who think it's their right driving and garaging their LLC units in California... I have this to say: MOVE to the State you have your LLC in, but please come visit us in California and spend your cash (for everything else there is always your Master Card). We need the tax base to pay for loopholes like LLC's on big dollar vehicles-!! Gordo

Just a quick note to let all know that we finally got in touch with Davis. They had misplaced the order. They have now completed the order, and all is well.
