Rich,

My 2005 Inspire is #51264! Yours must have been right behind mine on the assembly line.

Hi Folks,

How good is this.

A senior living in Alaska gets one vehicle free of registration fees. Renewal is a 2 year period for all vehicles.
After you have so many years, that one vehicle gets a permanent tag. This means there is no further re license.

George,

What emissions testing does Arizona require? I always thought California was the toughest but here diesels are exempt if GVWR is above 14000 lbs.

AZ requires a yearly test.

The problem is during the test upon initial full throttle my Cat C9 emits a puff of black smoke but then runs clean. This puff of smoke causes the machine to reject the vehicle not fail the test. Last year I was fortunate enough to get an inspector that waited to insert the sensor in the exhaust pipe until after the the initial puff of smoke and I had no problem passing. I'm just not sure that all inspectors will be that flexible. I took the coach to a Cat Dealer and was told everything was within specs.

Old truck driver told me many years ago, put a tennis ball under the pedal and push hard. It's the turbo not spooling up quick enough to burn the fuel. By slowing down the throttle it gives the turbo time to spool up....

AZ only requires smog in the Tucson and Phoenix metro areas....... all other parts of the state are exempt. Also, because of their fee design (take 60% of MSRP 1st year, take another 15% off each year there after) older coaches are pretty cheap to register...

As far as Arizona is concerned it depends on where you live. In Yuma we have no emissions requirements to license a vehicle...
