Hurricane "code 7" info update

Hi, folks

If anyone else is getting the code 7 (failure to start) regularly, here is one possible reason. Since having my system updated with the latest board, I have been getting the code 7 faults. I talked with Kevin at IRT (or ITR?) and they said in some systems, the overheat reset they added to the circuit was too sensitive (must be female), and they had me take the sensor out of the loop. They had me bypass the reset circuit by cutting the black wire coming from the fuel pump and grounding it against the case by adding it to the green wire that is grounded there now. This is a temporary fix, they are sending me something to add to make this permanent. This has solved the problem for me so far.

I am saving all messages regarding the Hurricane for reference if I have additional problems, so continuing to post all problems and fixes is helpful. I am somewhat concerned when you say ITR had you remove the overheat sensor. The lack of an overheat cutoff was what caused mine to burn when the board malfunctioned. The "fix" was to add the cutout on the ground side of the pump. If this is what you removed, I would suggest monitoring the unit very closely.

That's exactly what it seems to be. They bypassed the sensor. They claimed they found it was too sensitive for some units, and was tripping unnecessarily. They said they had something to send me to provide a permanent fix, but the cell phone went dead before he explained what. I am watching it, but so far, it has worked well since then.

Of course, about a dozen other things have gone wrong this trip, but things were going too smoothly anyway.
We are now in Las Vegas, don't think I should try my luck at any games this trip.

I'm happy to advise my Hurricane is now operationg flawlessly, except for having to add minute amts of coolant. When I first started it up this winter it required about a gallon of coolant over a period of a couple of weeks. Since then the level has stayed virtually constant.

Hi Bill,

Please let us know what ITR sends. Considering all of the trouble with the circuit boards, it scares me to think anyone is running the unit without the high-heat safety cutoff.

Walt,

When you say "level" do you mean you do continue to see some coolant in the Plastic Resovoir? I continue to add and it disappears from the Resovoir. If I take the Cap of the Unit and put a plastic tube down into the unit, I appear to always have enough in there.
