Al,

That would be a very nice feature to have. I never used the Executive, because I did not attempt to activate the old receiver.
I keep a strap on my steering wheel when the dish is up. It is a good reminder except when my wife when takes the strap off to secure the refrigerator before I stow the dish and make my trip around the outside of the coach. We keep a small clevis on the strap that fits well over the refrigerator door handles to keep it closed while en route.

Al, if you get a portable, be sure and buy the lock hasp and lock. I have heard that they are a high theft item, especially in RV parks that have a high concentration of permanent RV residents. .

Not necessarily. I use my laptop for GPS and music (100+CDs), entertainment center, etc so I need the 120V. Others are running a crock pot, etc.

Seems like a personal choice decision.

I just had my coach serviced (maintenance) done -- they have an electrical expert mechanic there and he informed me the inverter should be off unless I am dry camping and need to use my t.v. or micro or any electrical unit that produces heat as it supposedly draws the most electrical power.
I had been leaving mine on all the time and he cautioned me against doing that.... anyway that is his opinion

Stan When I am connected to shore power it is usually off, but it's not a big deal. The amount of heat/power consumed is minimal as the inverter just passes thru the voltage thru a set of contacts. When dry camping, yes it is off except when we need 120 vac. When driving, it is on to power the refer, computer, crock-pot , etc. I did find that using the oven while driving is too much of a load and it actually depleted the batteries.

Thank You for all of your opinion on if the Inverter should remain on or off when not in use. I must indicate the response was about 50/50. I will go with Jan and the mechanic suggestion below.

Just one more thought for the record. I had the same dilemma a few years ago and called Xantrex for an opinion. They told me it really didn't matter, but that by leaving it on, the heat that was generated helped dissipate moisture. I don't like leaving anything on that I am not using so I decided to keep mine off.
