Key Fob doesn't work and the entry key pad doesn't work. Some of the wires in the loom have broken and some about to break. What's the consensus on whether to replace the loom or try to splice the wires? If replace, then do you know where I could get the replacement?

Hello Dennis

Check with Kevin Waite. He can get parts.

Dennis,

I spliced mine some time ago. There is not much wire to work with so it is a bit tedious. Also, be very sure you make the right matches or some things will not work properly. After splicing I placed heat shrink over the splices. Be sure to test all functions before closing things up. To replace the entire loom looked like a major project but that is just one man's opinion.

I rewired the whole loom and used shrink tubing as part of the process.
Used progressively large shrink wrap and ended with 3 layers.. that hold a specific shape.
When completed the loom slides in and out of the door. A spring was added inside the door to pull the wire in when the door closes.
The result was.. no more bending and potential breaking.

Not my idea.. came from a great mind here on the Yahoo site.

Hope this helps,
Russ
