Re: 12R tires Reply #27 – March 31, 2006, 01:10:06 pm Yahoo Message Number: 22005I appreciate everyone contributing so much thoughtful conversation on such an important topic. Buying 8 new tires for my coach almost requires a bank loan and is not an activity to be entered into lightly. Many years ago, I read that the tire spacing is a critical factor in dual applications for heat dissipation. I know that the G670's don't touch because nice people like Jim have contributed to this forum. My concern is "does the spacing on the G670 in a dual application meet the minimum manufacturers requirement"? I understand that when dual tire spacing is reduced, the duals do not cool as well because the tires radiate heat to each other and this extra heat can cause premature tire failure. So the issue as I see it is NOT if they touch, but if the spacing meets or exceeds that manufacturers specification for dual applications. The Goodyear web site does not have any tire separation specification listed. The Michelin web site has the spacing spec for the 12R22.5 as 13.2 inches, which is the same spec as the Toyo tires and the same spec as my 2003 Intrigue. If anyone knows a reliable source for the Goodyear spacing specs for the G670 RV 295/80R22.5 tire, please share it with us. I have not eliminated the G670RV tire from my consideration, but I must say that the Michelins are looking like a better fit for my coach -- and anything that gives me greater "peace of mind" is a good thing. Thanks for all your help.Bob Kumza 2003 IntrigueQuote from: Jim Hughes Quote Selected
Re: 12R tires Reply #28 – March 31, 2006, 09:00:01 pm Yahoo Message Number: 22013I changed my Toyo's to the Goodyear G670's in December 2005. I use Smartire and have been watching the readings on the temperatures. So far, the temps on the front tires while not high, have been higher than any of the duals. Both the inside and outside duals have been a few degrees of each other. Of course the weather has been on the cool side so far, so the summer here in Florida will provide even more data in how the tires perform.I am not promoting Goodyear over any other brand and can only speak to my own experiences with these tires so far. Hopefully, the research I did before hand will pay off in years to come.Jim Hughes2000 Allure #30511Jim HughesQuote from: rvrobert2003I appreciate everyone contributing so much thoughtful conversation onQuotesuch an important topic.
