Garbage in many posts

Yahoo Message Number: 3299
I can only wonder how much extra time is wasted in downloading this Yahoo board and many other boards by the way most people post replies. Look at how many of the replies contain the complete prior comments from the first person who asked the question. Why not take some time when you reply and why not delete the unnecessary information? I don't have a problem with downloading but I am sure those that are paying a high per minute price with cell phones and satellite links would like to get their email quicker. When I read this board I find sometimes it is difficult to see what is new and what is repeat-repeat stuff. When I reply to a comment I take time to delete the unnecessary and only leave in what is pertinent.

My 2 cents worth!

Hi Bill,

I was trying to make this very point with my recent responses in part.

I always believed this site is for helping each other with finding solutions for their problems and providing innovative improvements.
Every post is put on the post list and it becomes very time comsuming to find any useful history. Using the Delete icon doesn't do anything for the history list.
Suggested rules for us all:
1. Email directly to the person you are directing your response to rather than using the user group's email address.
2. When you reply to the user's group, change the subject if you change the content in your message.

3. See if the subject has been covered in past posts
before you ask for help. Most problems (tires, tire pressures, ride height, heaters, generators, engine sensors, etc) have been covered in the past with good techincal and practical solutions or suggestions.
Learn how to do searches - use a word or words.

To the user's group moderator - it would be helpful if all non-contributing posts be deleted.

See, therein lies the problem.....one man's treasure is another man's garbage. If one person had control over what was allowed on here then you can bet your bottom dollar it would be mostly useless dribble...but in a free society where free thinking people share and xchange ideas then you get lots more useful info. I for one have no trouble with this board since I don't have it go to my email box. I check it at this site....I can then easily skip over topics that have no relevance to my personal situation....I choose to read or not to read....it is perfect, for me. But, then I don't much believe in having board censors. Just my opinion.

Let me see if I have this right: You complain about "high per minute price with cell phones and satellite links" and you drive around in a Prevost? My delete button works quite well, and having the original post gives a good reference.

I much prefer the original e-mail message to the (that pays Yahoo for hosting our group) that comes with it. Some of us don't read or respond for days at a time. The resending of the prior post saves me time in researching which posting prompted the response.
Anyone who wants to eliminate sending it can set the option in their e-mail program to not send the original message with the reply. But, again, I want to see them.

Good Point Fred. I just signed on to cancel my membership for two weeks as am leaving on a two week rv trip and with the proliferation of garbage messages resulting in 20 to 30 a day additions every single day , find it will be impossible to download my email with my cell phone. ron and molly '01 Intrigue # 11262 san diego

Well Per, you are wrong with your assumption. Even though we own a Prevost, we don't use email on the road. I'm referring to those that DO!!!! I never said in my post that I complained about the cost to download. So since you like all the whole message, completely, in its entire full length, go back an reread mine. I read about 7 different lists per day and you cannot believe how many times people repost a full reply which somtimes includes the whole post of all 25 messages. I'm only saying repost what is important to your reply or question. Learn how to copy and or delete much of the unnecessary stuff. Take a look at what is in your reply and take some time to delete things like the advertismenet at the end, etc. In this day of quick fix we sometimes get too hasty to do something. If you were talking on a phone call with some people you would not repeat everything each time nor would you if you were writing a letter in response to someone. So PER, go back and reread my message and tell me if I said I didn't like what it costs me on the internet.

I've been away for a while but I thought I'd jump in on this one.
Why don't you keep the messages at the site and do not download them as email? You save a lot of download time that way and can pick the messages you want to read.

I do agree with removing all the garbage at the bottom, it's so easy to do.

I'm glad to hear you are so concerned about the cost to other folks. Too often when people talk about "other people" they are really talking about themselves. I actually didn't realize the came along with the Email until I scrolled to the end of this response................Per

Reading User group messages without getting them in your Inbox

Hi Herb (Group Moderator),

How does one just read the CC Owners user group messages at the user group site and not get them posted to one's email site? When you subacribe to the users group you automatically get them sent to you. If you don't subscribe, then you can't read the user group history nor the details of the current message posts.
Please respond.

You can set it up in Yahoo groups to either receive the email or just read them here. I have never gotten any in my email. I checked the block for NO EMAIL...
