New problem! no power inside with genset working

Yahoo Message Number: 3324
There is a foot of snow on the ground here in the Berkshires of western Mass...

Went to exercise the coach yesterday. The genset started right up but soon after plugging in a heater the power went off even tho the genset kept working. I have a Good Guvnor plugged in and I have been noticing that the volt readings have been low. Yesterday I was getting 118v reading at first but that dropped down to about 111. Then when I plugged in the heater it dropped to 104 and then the power went off. NO circuit breakers tripped inside and the fuses at the genset did not trip either.
I did notice that the low voltage light on the surge protector was blinking...That I realize would prevent power from being passed through.
But, why would there be only low voltage with nothing on? Anyone have some ideas? The genset kept on working fine but there was no power (juice) at the outlets...

As I was told..... some coaches had the surge protector wired around the genset so there was no protection when on gen power. You probably should check with CC. May or may not be your problem.

Mine was rewired at my recent factory service visit.

I am assuming you have an Allure or Intrigue model. First I would make sure your bedroom GFI is not tripped, that GFI controls all the outlets. I would check out your inverter fuses, they are little white round fuses that "pop" out. I am suggesting this since you said you had no power at the outlets. Just push them back in if they are popped. Your inverter is located over your batteries, behind the metal plate with the orange decal. You could rule out your gen being the problem by plugging your coach in and checking the voltage. Try these and let us know.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I do have a 2000 Allure #30493. I checked all settings yesterday and then turned on the genset and did get power at the outlets. However, voltage readings were not too good starting at 132 and dropping to 107 during the first minute. Then when I turned on the heat pump and the frig voltages increased to 108 and 109.
One hour later readings were at 111v. When I turned off the frig and heat pump voltages decreased from 111 to 109 and 108v. Something is not right there...Wish I had double checked voltage readings with a multimeter but did not think of it...
I was then able to move the coach and plug into shore power altho at 15 amps. Power came on at 116 v and then increased to 119 v. When I turned on the frig tho volts dropped to 101v and I quickly turned the unit off.
Volts went up to 104 and then 105 and a few minutes later I had to unplug as I was blocking an entranceway...
I did test my Good Governor monitor about a month ago at home and it did seem to be accurate. I will test the Genset again in a few days and if it works will take readings with my multimeter.
What do these numbers mean to you...suggestions? On Sat, 23 Nov 2002 16:28:56 -0000 "damonrapozo" damon.rapozo@...> writes:

The most logical explanation for your loss of voltage when adding load is that you have a loose connection somewhere in the wiring. And since it happens when running the generator as well as when plugged into shore power, it is most likely in wiring commonly used by both sources.
Might be the wiring feeding the main distribution box (with the circuit breakers).

If you have a loose connection the added electrical resistance will generate heat proportionate to the added load, thus it is a good thing you shut off the load as we all know what too much heat can do.
Of course, your "Good" Governor could have gone "bad", but that isn't likely to fluctuate with load.

RV Mike,

Get an accurate multimeter and check everything again, you should be plus or minus 10 volts from 120. If you still get these big swings then have your gen stators and brushes checked out by your local Powertech dealer.

Good Luck,
